Stanton Bikes Weekender

Last weekend we spent with Stanton Bikes who popped down for a couple of days with all of the owners of their newly launched Slackline 853 Hardtail MTB. A fresh new addition into the hard tail frame market it is made from a high compound steel, reynolds 853, that is light, immensely strong and allows the tubes to be thinner. A video from Stanton Boss ‘Dan is at the bottom of this Blog. There were an array of different spec’d Stantons on show with the 20+ riders that had come along.

After waking up in the heated Camping Pods, Saturday started by devouring a huge breakfast from the Station Inn Cafe next to the Blazing Bikes shop. After a bit of last minute fine tunings of bikes and the odd photocall we set off to have a mass group ride out on to the Long Mynd. Taking the forestry fire road its a decent climb to the summit as it meanders through the trees. After a couple of hours of ripping around and coming home via Minton Batch it was back to the pub for some hearty fodder!

In the afternoon we wanted to put the bikes through their passes with the cameras on, so took them into some short downhill track that are scattered all over the forestry section of the Long Mynd. Although we had a great time on the bikes the weather had the better of us with the light fading fast so it was back to camp to enjoy a relaxing evening of good food and beer at the pub!

Sunday arrived with rain only reserved for Shropshire and Wales! It was bucketing it down by 11am as we were gathering shots of single track riding through the popular Carding Mill Valley just above Church Stretton. There was the odd bump and scrape as mother nature let loose with all she had and so after a few hours it was back for a well deserved bowl of hot soup in the fantastic Grillikota (Finnish BBQ).

The edit from the weekend will be available soon!
